Saptiqa FC, Senapti FC enter QF
Kohima, October 13: Saptiqa Football Club Zunheboto and Senapti FC today became the last two teams to book their quarter finals berth at the ongoing 19th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Football Tournament organised by Angami Students’ Union at Kohima local ground here.
In a close-shave match, Saptiqa FC Zunheboto defeated Kigwema Students’ Union by a solitary goal. Playing in a rain soaked muddy ground, the teams were unable to make any breakthrough till the injury added time of the match wherein Aben struck the winning goal.
Anguzo Phira and Kuzole Phira of KSU and Philip of Saptiqa FC Zunheboto were yellow carded for foul play in the process of the match.
The second game between Senapati FC and Khuzama Youth Organisation witnessed quick goals scored by both sides with the former emerging winner 3-1.
Even as Vareiyang failed to convert a spot kick in the early stage of the play, Senapati FC came from behind to win the match.
It was Khuzama Youth Organisation taking the lead through Viho Kin’s kick from the penalty spot in the 12th minute, but Imda gave Senapati FC the equaliser in 16th minute with his first goal while Nanda netted the lead in the 19th minute to end the first half 2-1. Imda sealed the score board with his second and third for the team in the 70th minute.
Avito Thaprü of Khuzama YO and Heshu Pulou and Tharmisaan of Senapati FC were penalised with yellow card for foul play.
Senapati FC will clash with Saptiqa FC in the quarter finals on October 16.
