Dimapur, June 5: 173 CRPF Battalion, Airfield Dimapur, celebrated World Environment Day at unit headquarter today by planting various types of trees in the camp areas.
Vishnu Gautam, Commandant, 173 Bn highlighted that tree plantation is very important for the community as a whole and this initiative will go a long way in inculcating awareness about environment conservation.
On the occasion, the unit resolved to use only cloth bags and make all camp areas a polythene/plastic free zone.
Emphasizing the need to protect and conserve the environment by CRPF under the leadership of DG CRPF, he said, “CRPF has always protected and conserved the environment” and 173 Bn pledged to plant 10000 trees this monsoon.
So far 2500 trees have been planted at various location of the unit of which maximum plantation has been carried at CRPF land at Chumukedima.
PCC: The faculty and staff of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) carried out plantation drive in the campus on World Environment Day maintaining the social distancing protocol on Friday, informed a release issued from the college.
Unity College: On the occasion of “World Environment Day”, Eco club, Unity College,Dimapur has organised “World Environment Day inter-college short speech video competition” on the topic “Conservation of Biodiversity in Nagaland”.
The competition was held focussing on the various man made activities harming biodiversity and to raise awareness on the significance of conservation of biodiversity in Nagaland. Colleges across the state participated in the competition with students sharing their innovative and novel ideas through pre-recorded videos on how to safeguard our biodiversity.
KhroriteLasuh of Salt Christian College was declared as the best speaker and Krishna Kumar of Fazl Ali College and MankhamBuchem of Sazolie College was given the second and third position respectively.(Page News Service)
