16 year old Tenloi Phom takes silver in national school games

Kohima, June 8: 16 year old Tenloi Phom secured silver medal in 48kg category of Taekwondo for Nagaland team at 66th National School Games here at Delhi on Thursday.
In the first match, he defeated his opponent from Karnataka, beat Chhattisgarh in second match. While in the semis he overcame his opponent from Assam but had to be contended with a silver losing against Haryana state in the final match
A total of 8 players are taking part in the championship led by coach Visabiu Peseyie and team Manager as Deepak Prasad. The Taekwondo team are representing Nagaland under the department of Youth Resources and Sports.
The 16 year Phom is a student of TM Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima and currently at Sports Academy, IG stadium, Kohima.
In other matches, Thongti for under 45 kg won first match against Jharkhand and lost to Gujarat in the second match.
While Nnumhei for under 63 kg won the first match against Andhra pradesh and lost to Gujarat in the second match. While four more matches remaining for the Nagaland Taekwondo team.
After a gap of three years, School Games Federation of India (SGFI) has come out to hold 66th National School Games in two different states of the country from June 6 to June 12 at Bhopal & Delhi.
