10,993 people stranded in Dimapur go home

Dimapur, May 15: With the government relaxing COVID-19 lockdown measures and allowing stranded people to move to their home districts, the Dimapur District Administration successfully moved a total of 10993 persons stranded in Dimapur due to COVID-19 lockdown since March 24 to their respective districts and sub-divisions.
As directed by the government, deporting of Inter District stranded people exercise was held from May 7 to 9, which was further extended till May 14 due to increasing number of people opting to go to their own district.
With the initiative of Dimapur District Administration, the stranded people were transported by NST and private buses after going through all the laid down procedures besides hundreds of one-way private vehicle permit issued for inter district movement from Dimapur.
The occupants of the private vehicles were also allowed to travel only after going through the medical screening process and obtaining movement permit from the District administration.
The total 10993 stranded people who left for various districts comprises of 3304 persons to Mon, 812 persons to Longleng, 1717 persons to Tuensang, 1014 persons to Kiphire, 1351 persons to Mokokchung, 563 persons to Phek, 482 persons to Wokha, 202 persons to Peren, 167 to Kohima, 1381 persons to Zunheboto.
