1 killed, 3 injured in landslides at Mokokchung

Kohima, April 21: Pre-monsoon rains have claimed one life and injured three in Mokokchung on Saturday.
Report reaching here said incessant rain during the last couple of days triggered a landslide in Mokokchung town claiming one life and injuring three persons at Tongdentsuyong Ward.
After the incident administration, police, Assam Rifles and public rushed to the spot for rescue operation. The injured persons were shifted to hospital for treatment.
Some residents have also been shifted to a safer place.
The incident took place at a time when the State Government organised a mass social work throughout the State ahead of the monsoon, which is expected to be heavy this year.
Nagaland is a landslide prone area and incessant rains triggers landslides across the State during monsoon.
This year the State is expected to receive more rains, according to weathermen.
Recently Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio convened a meeting with Government officials to take stock of the impending natural calamities and the outcome of the meeting was to organise a mass social work. (Page News Service)
