1 held with opium, WY tablets


Dimapur, August 21: Kohima police personnel manning Khuzama Inter-State police check gate while conducting routine checking of vehicles on Wednesday intercepted a truck (AS11AC-7732) proceeding towards Dimapur from Manipur and recovered approximately 6 kgs of suspected contraband opium (powder form) and 250 packets (each packet containing 180 nos.) of WY tablets concealed underneath the driver’s seat.
Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle identified as Arbas Khan (19), son of Late Sahzad Ahmed of Usoipokpi village, Manipur was arrested and the contraband along with the vehicle seized. In this connection, a regular case under NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation.
The seized opium along with the tablets are estimated to be worth Rs 1.5 crore in the international market. (Page News Service)
