1 dies in 6th Mile road mishap

DIMAPUR, APRIL 27: One person was killed in an accident on NH 29 near JCB showroom at 6th Mile in Chümoukedima, police said on Thursday.
A press release informed that the victim, 45-year-old Abdul Malik was an auto-rickshaw driver. The incident occurred at around 11 a.m. on Thursday.
As per police account, a Maruti Baleno bearing registration number NL-02-CA-2113 rammed into the auto-rickshaw from behind. “The auto driver sustained head injuries above his left ear which led to his immediate death on the spot. The Baleno had also rammed into a footpath railing on the side.
“The driver of the Baleno and co-passenger who turned out to be his wife were also grievously injured and were rushed to CIHSR Hospital, 4th Mile along with the deceased who was declared to be brought dead”, it stated.
According to police, the deceased auto driver is survived by his two wives and two children aged between 10-12 years. The body was handed over to his family members upon refusal of Post Mortem examination after observing all necessary legal formalities.
The incident has been recorded under relevant provision of law at Chümoukedima Traffic Control and is under further enquiry, it added.
