Dimapur, April 29: One person was killed, and 123 kutcha houses destroyed, in a massive fire that broke out early Thursday morning at Burma Camp in Dimapur.
According to the Fire and Emergency Services department, it received the distress call at 12.10 am on April 29.
It took a marathon 3 hours for the four fire tenders and fire-fighters from Fire Station Dimapur (Central) and Fire Station Dimapur (West) to douse the inferno. The victim was a 25-year-old man, the department informed.
Property worth Rs 50 lakh (approx) was lost. Cause of fire could not be ascertained, it informed.
Another fire incident was reported on April 28 at Duncan Bosti, Dimapur, at around 12.50 pm. One kutcha house and one vehicle (Maruti Gypsy) were gutted in the inferno.
Property worth Rs 4 lakh (approx) was lost. The fire originated from the kitchen, it informed.
