DIMAPUR, JULY 9: In a dramatic turn of events, the Dimapur Police has arrested a person namely Anjesh Kumar (25) for staging his own abduction and demanding Rs 6 lakhs in ransom for his own release.
According to Dimapur Police, Kumar, a thekedar, was given Rs 1 lakh by his employer on July 7 to pay the labourers. But instead of paying the labourers, he kept the money to himself and on July 8 started calling his employer and relatives claiming he was kidnapped by two miscreants near Burma Camp while he was coming to the town with the money.
According to the story narrated by Kumar phonetically, the miscreants were on bikes. They blindfolded him, tortured him, and kept him somewhere he didn’t know and demanding now an additional Rs 6 lakhs to set him free. This led to the employer lodging a police complaint and subsequently his whereabouts were tracked.
Kumar, originally from Bihar’s Motihari, was eventually found at a tea garden, near New Field area, along Assam-Nagaland border. He was having Beer and Samosas when the police showed up.
He is now in police custody and a case has been filed at East Police Station. (Page News Service)
