Dimapur, July 3: Mokokchung Police has arrested the person involved in the alleged shooting of a dog in Changki village on July 1 last.
In a press release, SP Mokokchung, Vishal IPS stated that a suo-moto case was registered at Mangkolemba police station on July 2 basing on the information received in regard to the alleged shoot at sight incidents of dogs at Changki village on 1st July through print and social media.
Taking the cognizance of the case, Vishal said a regular case has been registered at Mangkolemba Police station vide case No. 001/2020 US 429 /188 IPC R/W 11 (1) L Prevention of cruelty to Animal Act 1960 and arrested the person involved in the alleged shooting incident.
The shoot at sight against dogs is a clear violation of the order issued by the Deputy Commissioner where it stated to proceed legal action US 428/ 429 IPC and prevention of cruelty to animal Act 1960 against any village authorities/ Wards/Individuals / group acting in contravention to the prevention of cruelty to animal Act.
Vishal said that during the investigation it was established that 12 Bore SSBL was used to shoot the dog and accordingly the arm and the empty shell was seized. The arrested individual is under the police custody for further investigation. (Page News Service)
