Dimapur, July 4: Mokokchung police has arrested one person for allegedly sexually assaulting two minor children, based on the complaint lodged by their parents on July 1.
Basing on the complaint, an enquiry was initiated and victims were sent for necessary medical examinations after observing Covid protocols, and accordingly a case was registered based on the findings under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, SP Mokokchung Vishal IPS said.
He said that the alleged suspect was brought to Police Station for questioning on the intervening hours of July 1 and 2 and thereafter arrest was made after observing COVID protocols.
The accused is an elderly man about 65 years old, the SP disclosed adding, interrogation of the accused took place at the PS and now he has been forwarded to judicial custody.
Mokokchung police is investigating the case thoroughly to ensure that justice is delivered to the victims swiftly. (Page News Service)
