Dimapur, January 12: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has keep in abeyance the suspension of Medokul Sophie, general secretary, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on January 11.

The NPCC president, K Therie had suspended Medokul Sophi on January 11 allegedly for "hobnobbing with multiple communal parties."

The suspension was kept in abeyance after Medokul appeal to the AICC terming the suspension as arbitrary "as the charges are baseless and unfounded", and that he was not given an opportunity to explain his side before suspension and his case was not endorsed by the NPCC executive committee which is a requirement.

In a letter to NPCC president, AICC secretary in-charge of Nagaland, K Jayakumar said the appeal by the affected party was considered at AICC and found that adequate opportunity was not given to the person concerned to defend himself.

"Therefore the action of the President, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee is kept in abeyance till such time the set procedure for such suspension is followed at NPCC," it said.
