Dimapur, December 6: The Eastern Nagaland College Students' Union (ENCSU) hoisted black flags in protest against the Government of Nagaland and the Department of Higher Education in Kohima and in four colleges in Eastern Nagaland for non release of full scholarship amount. The protest passed off successfully with students participating actively to send a strong message to the Government and the Department of Higher Education.

The black flags were hoisted at Directorate of Higher Education, Kohima; Yingli College, Longleng; Loyem Memoral Degree College, Tuensang; Wangkhao Govt. College, Mon and Zisaji Presidency Govt. College, Kiphire.

An ENCSU press release informed that it is fully committed to fight until justice is delivered and due share is released to the students in full. It asked the Department and the Government not to take advantage when Naga students are suffering.

The ENCSU also questioned why the Government and the Department is still "confidently hiding the wrong instead of admitting and coming up with the truth" and clarify in print media so that people can see the clear picture.

The ENCSU warned the Government and the Department of Higher Education to release full scholarship amount by December 8, failing which it would be held solely responsible for any untoward incident thereof. The ENCSU also urged the Government and the Department to respond within two days.

Further, the ENCSU appealed to all the Naga students to be prepared mentally and physically for the next course of action, if the Department and the Government fail to fulfil the demands.

Meanwhile, ENCSU said it is also aware of the unspent balance of Rs 2.8 crore for the year 2015-16 which the DoHE had clearly stated in the utilization certificate (UC) to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs that the same would be credited to the following year 2016-17 beneficiaries. It demanded that the same should be credited in addition to the full amount 2016-17 beneficiaries.
