Dimapur, November 17: Ten NPF MLAs today stayed away from the meeting of Nagaland Legislators Forum on Naga political issue called by Assembly Speaker, Dr Imtiwapang Aier after declining the invite from the Speaker to attend the meeting.

In a letter to the Speaker, the ten MLAs - Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu, Yitachu, Y Vikheho Swu, Kuzholuzo Nienu, Dr Chotisuh Sazo, P Longon, Thongwang, CL John, R Tohanba and Torechu - said when the Speaker cannot uphold the Constitution of the country and his own Assembly rules "we have our reservation on your position as Chairman of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Legislators Forum, which is for right action for solution of Naga political problem.

"When one cannot stand for the truth and the rule of law, one cannot be expected to bring about any positive things on such important issues as our Naga political problem."

The 10 NPF legislators, however, placed on record their position on the Naga political problem saying they are ready to "pave way in the event of the realisation of a negotiated political settlement that is honourable and acceptable to the people."

The letter stated that the NPF party's stand on Naga political issue is unquestionable, and that the party will continue to hold that stand till the settlement comes.
