KPU to impose total bandh on NH-2 on Oct 31

Dimapur, October 22: Kandi Public Union (KPU) has decided to launch phase wise agitation by imposing total bandh along National Highway-2 for 48 hours with effect from 6 a.m. of October 31 to midnight of November 1.

According to a press release issued by Secretary, Publicity & Information, KPU, Khiyalo Kez, an emergency meeting comprising of 6 villages under Tseminyu Sub-Division was held on October 21 with regards to BDO office construction for RD Block, Chunlikha, the foundation stone for which was laid on November 29, 2012.

The Union said after a gap of 5 years, the State Government issued the work order to M/s JK & Sons Constructions on November 11, 2016 but the Contractor has failed to commence the construction work of RD Block Chunlikha BDO office building. 

In this connection KPU as a concerned body had submitted several representations to the concerned authorities and the State Government while on October 6, 2017, it  submitted an ultimatum addressed to the Minister for Rural Development, Government of Nagaland with 15-days deadline to commence the construction work.

On the expiry of the deadline on October 21 and the failure of the State Government to positively respond to our ultimatum, KPU has decided to launch phase wise agitation as a mark of resentment.  (Page News Service)
