Dimapur, October 11: Dimapur, October 11: The circulation of "false messages" in the social media that some people from the Muslim community have "volunteered to take up arms against the Nagas if the Nagas drive them out" have forced the Idgah Committee, Dimapur to rubbish such claims.

President of Idgah Committee, Dimapur, Shanawar Shaikh clarified that such "false propaganda" has malafide intention to discredit the integrity and respect of the Muslim community with a vested interest.

Among others, the "fake messages" being circulated claims that "around 2000 Muslims have volunteered to take up arms against the Nagas if the Nagas drive them out" and that "All IBI males have joined the crusade and are ready to declare jihad against Nagas."

The Idgah Committee, the apex body of all the Mosques of Dimapur District, informed that there is no Imam by the name of Shahbuddin Mohammed Ali in Dimapur District, as claimed in the messages circulated.

"Those who are spreading rumours by taking this fictitious name is only trying to create panic and disrupt the peaceful environment of Nagaland," it said.

The Idgah Committee said one such "fake messages" circulating in social media says that "one fictitious character named Shahbuddin Mohammed Ali, Imam of Dimapur along with three others were killed by Nagaland Police," which it said "is a fake information to mislead the public."

The Idgah Committee requested the police and law enforcing agencies to trace the anti social elements/culprits responsible for circulating such messages and make it public to remove doubts from the minds of the people and restore social harmony and trust among the citizens.

The Idgah Committee stated that Muslim community and Nagas are living peacefully in Nagaland since many years and no outside force will be allowed to disintegrate it. The Committee also welcomed the decision of DC Dimapur and other tribal bodies to check the documents of non-Nagas to curb the menace of illegal immigrants and assured full cooperation from the Idgah Committee.
