Dimapur, September 4: Minister for Higher Education, Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along today called on Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda at his official residence at 25, Tughlak Road, New Delhi.
Along briefed the Union Minister on the various projects that are going to be taken up in the State with regard to tribal affairs and sought the active cooperation of the Union Minister.
The Department of Tribal Affairs also prepared Concept Notes for the proposed Directorate Building at Kohima besides two Mini Directorates at Mokokchung at Tuensang which was submitted to the Union Minister by Temjen Imna Along. The Union Minister assured to look into the matter and do the needful at the earliest.
Temjen Imna Along also briefed the Union Minister on the activities and performance of Nagaland University which is slated to celebrate its Silver Jubilee on September 6 at Lumami. It may be mentioned that Arjun Munda ji will be gracing the celebration as Special Guest.
Later in the day, Minister Along also called on Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Minister of Human Resource Development at Shastri Bhavan in the presence of Ministry officials.
Minister Along apprised the Union Minister about the activities of the Higher and Technical Education Departments and urged upon the Union Minister to extend support to the State for higher and technical education.
Union Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank who also gave a patient hearing, suggested that a conclave of Northeastern region and Himalayan States can be held at Kohima to deliberate on the circumstances of the hilly and mountainous States with regard to the New Educational Policy.
Besides this, the Union Minister HRD instructed the Ministry officials to extend all necessary cooperation to the State Government by clearing pending liabilities and sanctioning funds.
The Union Minister asked Temjen Imna Along to send comprehensive proposals to the Ministry for expeditious approval and sanction. The HRD Minister also said that he will consider sanctioning two more professional colleges for Nagaland as requested by Minister Imna Along.
The Union Minister also assured to give infrastructure grants to all 17 Government Colleges in the State and assured to support weather research in Kohima Science College in every possible way. (Page News Service)
