HG&CD celebrates Raising Day-cum-Passing out Parade

Dimapur, December 6: Home Guards & Civil Defence Department today celebrated its Annual Raising Day-cum-Passing Out Parade of the Home Guards volunteers at Central Training Institute, Toluvi.

The event was graced by Parliamentary Secretary for Home Guards & Civil Defence, Namri Nchang.

Speaking on the occasion, Nchang said the role of Home Guards & Civil Defence has assumed great significance in the present scenario.

Stating that disaster caused by natural or man made disaster has required highest level preparedness at regular intervals, he said the role of Civil Defence has increased manifold.

The Parliamentary Secretary informed that the Government of India is also taking up measures to initiate and enhance techniques to improve and equip the NDRF/SDRF in order to be in a state of readiness in any eventualities.

He further stated that in Nagaland, there has not been accountable series of calamities, therefore, loss of life and destruction of mass property has not been experienced in a large scale in the state. However, he said this does not permit either the Government or the Department to be complacent.

He said with the foresight to cope with any type of crisis the department should remain totally alert. He also expressed hope that the department would grow in strength and sophistication to become a powerful civilian force to be able to respond to any disaster situation in the state or the nation.

He also congratulated all those who have received Commendation Certificates and presentation on the occasion.

Earlier, Director General Home Guards & Civil Defence reviewed the parade. 

Altogether 217 recruits completed their training and passed out today. (Page News Service)
