KSC Jotsoma gets new facelift

Kohima, November 11: Under the funding of University Grants Commission (UGC) Scheme 2015-2017, a 2-storied building of Leone (Girl) Hostel Phase-II having accommodation capacity of 37 students with toilets and other facilities being constructed with a budget cost Rs 70 lakhs was today inaugurated at Kohima Science College Jotsoma (KSCJ) campus by former KSCJ Principal and present Additional Director of Higher Education, Dr I Anungla Aier here at the Leone Hostel campus in the morning.

Earlier, Aier also inaugurated the renovated basketball court, which was funded by the KSCJ Alumni 1996 passed out batch at the cost of Rs 4.5 lakhs, some 20 meters away from the newly constructed hostel.

Speaking at the formal ceremony, Aier said the two new assets were added to the college through the efforts of the teaching faculties, staffs, students, alumni and well wishers. 

Appreciating the building committee members, she said the dedicated efforts of the committee members comprising Dr Limatemjem, Asst. Professor, Department of Zoology and Selie Puro, Asst. Professor, Department of Geography have really put the things coming out in flying colours and urged everyone to follow suit. 

Aier also appreciated the yeomen service of Alumni 1996 passed out batch who generously contributed towards the excellent renovation of the basketball court. 

A brief report was given by the Women Hostel Construction Committee Dr. Limatemjem.

In a separate report given by the Alumni 1996 passed out batch on basketball court renovation, alumni Moatemsu, Jio Centre Manager, Kohima reported that the initial estimated cost budget was aimed at Rs 2 lakhs where floor renovated thickness was aimed at 2 inches. However, the floor thickness was renovated with 5 inches during the course of renovation where the final budget went up to Rs 4.5 lakhs. As per the report, the funding process was made through sold of concepts, free will donation from alumni friends circle and well wishers.
