National Lok Adalat settles 33 cases in Dimapur

Dimapur, November 11: Dimapur District Legal Services Authority conducted National Lok Adalat (people's Court) at the District Court Dimapur today and settled 33 cases.

Cases were mostly dealt on banking matters, Public Utility matters and Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT), which yielded a significant number of disposal as well as active participation by the Banks and Public service providers and most importantly amenable appearance by the litigants.

The National Lok Adalat in Dimapur altogether took up and settled 33 cases. The total settlement amount was Rs. 43,36,616.

The Lok Adalat proceedings were carried out led by the Presiding Judges aided by conciliators, Lawyers and also the Para legal Volunteers. The proceedings were also conducted in local dialects for convenience of the illiterate litigants. 

Lok Adalat (The Peoples Court) is meant for amicable settlement of cases based on the concept of conciliated settlement of disputes. The system of Lok Adalat is economical and here the justice delivery is quick and effective. The National Lok Adalat is held bimonthly throughout the country and the respective State Legal Services Authorities serve as the implementing agency which are statutory bodies constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987.
