Ntl Theatre Festival underway at Mkg

Dimapur, October 11: The first ever National Theatre Festival in Nagaland organized by National School of Drama, New Delhi in collaboration with Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland got underway at Town hall, Mokokchung on October 10.

Gracing the inaugural function as the chief guest, Tsukti Longkumer, Chairman Mokokchung Entrepreneurs Consortium said at a time when the society needs a change from all the evil practices like corruption, nepotism and terrorism, theatre plays a significant role not only as entertainment but as a platform to carry forward social messages to the masses. He maintained that theatrical performances is at a nascent stage in our state but added that there is a lot of scopes and avenues for growth which our talented local youths can take up and act as an agent of change for the betterment of our society.

During the programme, short speeches were delivered by OP Sarkar, Deputy Registrar, National School of Drama, New Delhi and Lemlila Sangtam, SDO (C) Mokokchung. 

The theatrical play titled Jina & Etiben directed by Bendang Walling, Hill Theatre, Nagaland was staged as the curtain raiser of the festival.
