Open Basketball Tourney from May 7

Dimapur, May 5: The 10th edition of Open Basketball Tournament (OBT) is all set to be held from May 7 to 12 at Khuochiezie Local ground Kohima. Altogether defending champion Taurus and other 10 teams from across the state would compete each other on a league basis to vie for the much coveted title.
Pool A consist of Last Kings, Ephriam, Stallions, Orca and Akelos with TMB as the pool leader while Pool B include Mission Giant, S. Naga Trouncers, Ophidian and Cretan’ Bulls with Taurus as it’s pool leader.
The champion will walk away with Rs 60,000 and runner up with Rs 30,000 along with trophies and citations. Both losing semi- finalists will receive Rs 10,000 each while Most Valuable Player of the tournament will pocket Rs 10,000.
It is one of a kind tournament in Nagaland which will have the digital scoreboard, 24 second shot clock,
hydraulic rings, fluorescent indoor lighting, LED board display, and live coverage like last year.
The matches will be played under the guidelines of Federation International Basketball Association (FIBA), the governing body of world basketball.
The opening function of the tournament will commenced at 1 pm. Following the thread of the last edition, matches will go till 8 pm. Around 20 stalls will be setup in the arena where the fans can go and enjoy different varieties of foods and drinks. Throughout the tournament, few lucky fans will be picked from the ticket serial numbers and be given free food vouchers.
The 6-day tournament is being organised by Nagaland Basketball Association in association with Suncity Kohima.
