Dimapur, August 14: Dimapur police has issued new traffic regulations for non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and NH-29 till Chumukedima town with effect from August 17 to 31.
In an order, Dimapur police said vehicles with registration number ending with odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7 & 9) will be allowed to ply on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8 & 0) will ply on Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday. The restriction will not be enforced on Sundays.
Police said the category under essential services as notified earlier will be exempted. Further Government servants on bonafide Government duties and vehicles involved in providing essential services/ involved in COVID-19 related duties will also be exempted from the purview of the restriction on production of relevant documents and valid ID proof.
Two wheelers shall also be exempted from this traffic regulation.
Police further notified that all heavy vehicles, except those engaged in the four lane construction work with valid permit will be restricted from plying within the town area and highway area from 9 am to 3 pm.
Dimapur police warned that anyone violating the order will be penalized under MV Act 1988. It appealed to all citizens to cooperate in the interest of public safety. (Page News Service)
