NVCO, KDTODU condemns assault on truck driver

Dimapur, November 21: The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO) and the Kohima District Truck Owners & Drivers’ Union (KDTODU) have condemned the assault on a truck driver by suspected NSCN (IM) cadres near Khuzama excise check gate on November 20.
In a release, NVCO said it was shocked at the inhuman conduct of the suspected NSCN(I-M) cadres in assaulting an innocent truck driver for no wrong of him but just for money “in the midst of highest level of negotiation for Naga solution by their leaders.”
NVCO president Kezhokhoto Savi said the incident is an insult to the enquiry committee to check illegal collection of cash at check gates and on highways in and around Kohima.
The NVCO asked the District administration and police to arrest the accused at the earliest and impose stringent punishment so as not to allow such crime in Southern Angami area in future.
In a separate release, the KDTODU while strongly condemning the incident demanded the District administration and police to immediately arrest/ apprehend the accused/perpetrators and award punishment as per the law. (Page News Service)
