Dimapur, March 17: The new building of Government High School Akuk, funded by Samagra Shiksha Department of School Education, was inaugurated on March 10 by Mmhonlumo Kikon, Advisor to Information Technology & Communication, Science & Technology and New & Renewable Energy.
A press release on Thursday informed that Kikon encouraged the students and parents to utilise the facilities provided by the Government for development of human resources.
He also urged the teachers to be more sincere in their duties.
The function was attended by a host of officials from the School Education Department, village councils, citizens of Akuk village and neighbouring village Mekokla.
Wonthungo Tsopoe, Director of School Education, said that the GHS Akuk building was the best he had seen in Wokha district.
Although the school infrastructure is now complete, the real testimony now lies in conducting regular schooling, improving the quality of education and increasing the number of students in the community school, he said.
Mhathung Odyuo, Village Council Chairman, extended gratitude to the State Government and School Management Committee (SMC) Akuk for their support and co-operation.
