Nagaland BJP condemns Arnab Goswami’s arrest

Dimapur, November 4: Nagaland BJP leaders have condemned the arrest of Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami in a suicide abetment case by Maharashtra.
Arnab Goswami was arrested in Mumbai by Raigad police Wednesday morning for allegedly abetting suicide of a 53- year-old interior designer in 2018.
Reacting to the news, Nagaland BJP president, Temjen Imna Along took to twitter to condemn the arrest, terming it as an attempt to crush democracy while BJP National spokesperson Mmhonlumo Kikon termed as an assault on media.
“The Maharashtrian Government’s attempt to crush the democracy of the country cannot be accepted. The arrest of the editor-in-chief of @republic, #ArnabGoswami is a direct attack on the Democratic system of the country. Such misuse of power will not be tolerated,” he tweeted.
BJP National spokesperson Mmhonlumo Kikon, who is also the Advisor for New & Renewable Energy, IT&C and Science & Technology, Government of Nagaland, also condemned the arrest terming it as an assault on the media and freedom of expression.
“Reasurecting a closed case to carry out a vendetta on @republic by the Maharashtra police under the orders of @OfficeofUT is an assault on the media & FOE!” he tweeted. (Page News Service)
