Keoshu Yimchunger lone candidate for Shamatore-Chessore bye-poll

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 8: Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) nominee S Keoshu Yimchunger is the only candidate to have filed nomination for the upcoming bye-poll 58 Shamator-Chessore Assembly Constituency, under Tuensang district of Nagaland.
Yimchunger submitted the election documents to the 58 Shamator-Chessore Assembly Constituency bye-election to Additional Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer B Henok Buchem, today.
He is also the consensus candidate of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), an opposition-less Government of the State.
The seat fell vacant following the death of sitting MLA and Advisor for Information & Public Relations, SCERT and Village Guards Toshi Wungtung on July 1 due to post COVID-19 complications.
The bye-election for the vacant seat is scheduled for October 30. Today was the last day of filing nomination.
Scrutiny of documents will be done on October 11 and if documents are found valid, Yimchunger would be declared elected uncontested after the last date of withdrawal on October 12, the official said. (Page News Service)
