We’re still a month away from the new season of Game of Thrones, but a recently leaked page from an upcoming issue of Empire Magazine may have confirmed the real name of Kit Harington’s Jon Snow.

A Reddit user by the name of theshivsharma shared an alleged image from the upcoming issue that claims to reveal the true nature of Jon’s birth heritage as well as his real name. If true, this would confirm a major Game of Thrones fan theory.

According to Empire, Jon Snow’s heritage is much more royal than we were led to believe.

“As we saw in the last episode of season 6, Bran’s psychic time-travelling ‘greensight’ revealed the true nature of Jon’s birth heritage and his real name: Jaehaerys Targaryen,” it says.

“Bran’s now in this precarious situation in which it’s just him and Meera, and he has all of this information that could change the entire story,” said Isaac Hempstead Wright (who plays Bran). And it’s not just about Jon. “He knows all about the origin of the White Walkers, too.”

According to io9, if this news is accurate it would confirm a theory that began making the rounds after Snow’s heritage was revealed during the Season 6 finale when Lyanna Stark supposedly mouthed the word “Jaehaerys” to Ned Stark upon her death.

Jaehaerys I, the longest reigning Targaryen monarch in Westerosi history, was a dragonrider and he was also known as “Jaehearys the Wise.” He ruled in tandem with his queen and love, Alysanne, who was dubbed “the Good.”

The two were beloved by their people and were known for negotiating a truce with the Wildings up north. Could this be foreshadowing something with Jon? It’s believed that Snow, along with Daenerys and Tyrion, will help fulfil the “dragon has three heads” prophecy.

How the rest of Westeros reacts to Jon’s parentage and how it will play into the upcoming season remains a mystery.
