Dimapur, December 13: The second edition of Dr. Imkongliba Ao Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy is underway here at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur and a total of 9 teams are participating this time.
Speaking as the inaugural guest on Monday at the inaugural session of the trophy, DC Dimapur Rajesh Soundarrarajan stated that self-discipline and belief in oneself to outshine others irrespective of the facilities received are the most important determiners to become a good sportsman. However, he lamented that many are limited by the low goals they set for themselves.
The DC said that if one has patience, discipline, and determination, he/she can be among the best players not only for the State but the country. On the occasion, he also urged the players to stay away from substance abuse and added that he has seen many with potential get wasted because of substance abuse.
Organised by Japukong Youth Organisation, the trophy which commenced on December 13, would conclude on December 15. The winning team would receive a cash prize of Rs 1,25,000 while the runner-up will walk away with a cash prize of Rs 75,000. The semi-finalists will receive Rs. 25,000 each.
The tournament will also have three individual prizes viz. Best Setter (Rs 10,000), Player of the Tournament (Rs 10,000), and Best Spiker (Rs 10,000).
