Dimapur, January 14: Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Orenthung Lotha today called upon the students’ community to understand the present situation and remain update on the issues and strive for the common cause.
Gracing the cultural day of the 14th general conference of Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU), he said division within the community lacks the strength to accomplish all-around development and reminded the leaders of various organizations to have the mindset of equality without a difference.
He called for environmental activists stating that climate change in the present generation is a bigger threat while drastically changes are inevitable and witnessed by everyone due to global warming. He also called upon the students for environmental protection and take up activities to preserve and protect the flora and fauna. He called for a sensible usage of resources and reduce waste to control pollution.
He informed the congregation on the importance and effectiveness of taking Covid jab to avoid casualties due to the virus.
The programme witnessed traditional folk songs from the Akuk Students’ Union, yodelling, traditional fire making, greased pole climbing and tug of war competition.
Earlier, a word of greeting was delivered from Chumchanthung Ezung president Nyiro Range Students’ Union.
The new team of LMRSU for the year 2022-2025 is led by Wonchibemo Ovung.
