COVID-19 Nagaland: Highest infection of 199 persons in the New Year

KOHIMA, JANUARY 12: Nagaland on Wednesday reported 199 fresh infections of COVID-19, highest for this year, and recovery of 15 patients’ increasing the tally of confirmed cases to 32,530.
The fresh infections include Dimapur: 187, Kohima: 10 and Mokokchung: 2 while 14 recoveries were in Dimapur district and 1 in Kohima district.
The recovered persons tally is 30,439 with recovery rate at 93.57%.
The number of active patients has increased to 242 in the State, of who 20 have mild and moderate symptoms and 1 is severe while 221 patients are asymptomatic.
The death toll in the State is 703, of who 16 had co-morbid conditions.
Altogether 1,146 COVID-19 patients have migrated to other States.
Thus far, a total of 4,29,774 suspected COVID-19 samples have been tested in Nagaland. It includes 1,13,107 on RT-PCR, 91,587 on TrueNat and 2,25,080 on the Rapid Antigen Test.
Meanwhile, the Health Department official informed that 5,148 teenagers in the 15 to 18 age bracket were administered with COVID-19 vaccine.
Further, a total of 13,52,144 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to 766,192 persons as of Tuesday, said State Immunization Officer Dr Ritu Thurr.
Out of the total doses administered in the State, 60,995 are frontline workers, 16,005 are healthcare workers, 214,735 are people above 45 years and 474,457 in the 18 to 44 years age group, he said.
A total of 585,952 beneficiaries have received the second dose of the vaccine completing the full course of vaccination. They comprise 48,660 frontline workers, 13,547 healthcare workers, 180,439 people above 45 years and 343,306 in the 18 to 44 years age group, said Dr Thurr.
Further, 1,066 people have also been administered with the precautionary dose, he said.
