Career guidance programme conducted at MCC Kohima

Dimapur, November 18: A one day career guidance programme was conducted at Model Christian College, Kohima on November 16. A total number of 113 students B.Sc and B.A attended the programme. The resources persons were Katini Eshena, researcher of Peace Channel, Alino S Chishi, district animator of Peace Channel and Pursungit, social development specialist of PMAY.
Alino S Chishi started with introduction on the importance of career guidance and elucidated that it is the basic requirements for students to build confidence, help them acquire knowledge, information about best career opportunities, and skills to identify career options and make one career decision leading a meaningful and purposeful life. She shared on the importance of dreams and the getting into goal setting to achieve ones dream, by exploring and identifying one’s interests and also to be always being prepared to face challenges or change.
Katini shared on the importance of decision making. She focused on the career decision making process which the individuals need to decide upon through self-assessment, career exploration, analyze information, making a career choice and by developing a plan of action. She also stressed on career management skills and the factors which can make decision effectively.
Pursungit presented on different careers available after the B.Sc and B.A. He elucidated that there are many career options but many of the youth are stuck with few traditional jobs therefore setting goals is a vital practice to build their dream. He also shared about the availability of higher courses, various top colleges and institutes, various fellowships and scholarships for students both national and international.
The programme concluded with evaluation and feedbacks.
