51st edition of the Chakhroma Sports Meet from Oct 23 to 30

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 9: Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) is all set to organise the 51st edition of the Chakhroma Sports Meet from October 23 to October 30, 2021, at Medzhiphema. This was informed on Saturday by President of CYO Seyieneilhou Keyho while interacting with the media fraternity here at CPO Hall, Chümoukedima.

Keyho on the occasion said that while the meets, which over the years have become a reason to bring people together, were been organised by Chakhroma Sports Association (CSA) for 50 years, the CSA has been dissolved and CYO would now take over the responsibility.
This year, the meet will have two sports i.e., football (for men) and volleyball (for men and women) and it is expected to have the participation of more than 30 villages and 30 to 40 teams of the total 42 villages including 7-8 colonies of Dimapur (Kuda area) which are affiliated to the CYO.
Keyho informed that the teams are usually divided into 4 groups comprising different areas and on alternate years, Naga wrestling and football & volleyball are played.
Vice President, Hovise Naleo revealed that for the 51st edition of the meet, the winner and runners-up of football will receive Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively besides the trophy. Further, there will be individual prizes like Player of the Tournament (Rs 5,000), Best Goal Keeper (Rs 2,000), Best Defence (Rs 2,000), and Top Scorer (Rs 2,000).
For both men and women categories of volleyball, the winner will receive cash prize of Rs 20,000 besides trophy while the runners-up will receive Rs 15,000 respectively. There will also be a prize of Rs 2,000 for Best Player.

Revealing that the opening ceremony of the meet will be graced by Advisor of Education & Elections, Medo Yhokha and closing ceremony will be graced by Chairman of Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, Keyho mentioned that the meet will not have any restrictions on visitors and participants, but everyone will have to follow the COVID SOPs.
